International & Academic English
Dawn Takaoglu is the Director of International and Academic English in Undergraduate Education and the Director of the Summer Start Program. She began working in the field of international education in 1988. She has led many student programs and taught English and cultural competence in higher education in the USA and abroad for more than 20 years. Prior to joining University of California Davis, Dawn coordinated international programs and taught ESL at a number of institutions in the USA and abroad in Hungary, Japan, Mexico and Spain. As a former international student herself, she is very aware of the challenges involved in learning to live and study in a new country and she is committed to helping international students acquire the skills and connections needed to feel comfortable and confident at UC Davis.
