About Alseny Bah

Alseny Bah is an environmental engineer with expertise in solid waste management, water and sanitation, environmental monitoring, mining waste management, wastewater treatment, etc. He is currently an assistant professor, Environmental Engineering Department, Faculty of Environmental Science at the University of N'Zerekore, Guinea. He is the founder and CEO of the NGO Citizen Action for a Clean Environment, which is dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability. Currently, coordinating the NGO-funded project by UNDP entitled “Strengthening the resilience and adaptive capacities of communities most vulnerable to climate change in Forest Guinea (PRACC-GF)” for the batch of Vassérédou, Macenta, Guinea. Bah holds a Ph.D. in wastewater treatment with a particular focus on solar-based landfill leachate remediation. His work with his NGO focuses on promoting good water and sanitation practices, climate change adaptation practices, youth leadership development, and other related areas. Bah was awarded the 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, placed at the University of California, Davis, which strengthened his commitment to advancing sanitation technology and innovation, promoting good climate change adaptation and resilience practices, as well as youth leadership development. He is passionate about preventing future pandemics through effective water, sanitation, and hygiene practices. Bah's current ambition is to create a non-profit youth leadership organization to mentor and advise young people in Guinea, Africa, and beyond in order to encourage the next generation of leaders committed to good governance, public health, and the environment.
