Mr. Mohammad Nazmul Ahsan has been serving the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for 14 years as a member of Bangladesh Civil Service. Mr. Ahsan holds two MSc. degrees in Fisheries and Marine Resource Technology (Khulna University, Bangladesh) and in Development Studies (Hiroshima University, Japan). Prior to attending the Humphrey program, he was Deputy Director (Administration and Finance) of the Department of Bangladesh Haor and Wetlands Development under the Ministry of Water Resources.
Mr. Ahsan was an ODA Scholar of Japan (JDS Scholarship), and he was also awarded NFP (Netherlands) and DDP Fellowships (Germany). He has also represented his country on different occasions in many countries including Canada, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. Additionally, he has worked with many government and non-government national and international organizations.
Mr. Ahsan is the first author of the book “Does Organizational Capacity Matter for Climate Change Adaptation?”. He also is a reviewer for Elsevier’s Journal “Environmental Science and Policy” and has contributed to the publication of several articles on environmental management.
During his fellowship year with the Humphrey Program, Mr. Ahsan wants to strengthen his leadership skills in environmental stewardship. Specifically, he wants to develop the required skills to be part of the national policy makers for sustainable development and environmental management.
