Emilio Edu Nguema has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural enterprises management from National University of Agriculture of Honduras (UNAG), and a master's degree in agricultural economics and management from Agricultural University of Hebei (HEBAU), P.R. China. He is concluding his Ph.D. in the same subject from HEBAU. He also has a background in agronomy, business and public administration from the National University of Equatorial Guinea (UNGE).

Edu works as an official extensionist at the Ministry of Agriculture of Equatorial Guinea and conducts research in agriculture. He has over five years of experience working with farmers and has served on several occasions as the focal point of some collaborative work with partner organizations such as the FAO, UNDP and IFAD. His research line from his Ph.D. is on agricultural economics policy, from which he is developing research work that can lead to Impactful agricultural development policies.

As a Humphrey fellow at UC Davis, Edu plans to enhance his capacity in extension work to serve the farmers better. Importantly, he expects to learn relevant concepts that will enhance his research work and to build important contacts to contribute to the agricultural development of Equatorial Guinea.
