Bio

Fauzia Chevonne Mohammed has four years experience in the energy sector, specifically focused on increasing electricity generation, transmission, and distribution for Nigeria. She currently works with Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) on strategies and mechanisms for achieving uninterrupted power supply in Nigeria through the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP). NDPHC owns ten gas-fired power plants with over 4075MW capacity and is currently deploying off-grid solar systems in Northern Nigeria. Previously, Fauzia worked as an Operations and Maintenance field engineer to support the commercial operations of Ihovbor Power Station. She now supports remote teams at eight operational NIPP power stations while contributing to remote community relations and projects. Fauzia holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Covenant University and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, and Business Management from the University of Leeds, UK. Her passion to solve the power challenges in Nigeria led her to focus her thesis on renewable energy technologies in Nigeria. This gave her greater insights into off-grid technologies and its relevance in bridging the energy gap in Africa. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Fauzia plans on continuing in the energy sector, exploring sustainable methods of increasing electricity access to Nigerians.
