Bio

Milkias Berhanu has over eleven years of experience working with government and private institutions, primarily as an academic at the Adama Science and Technology University, one of two science and technology universities in the country. Milkias has also served as the electrical team leader and a power expert for the Adama-II wind farm project, which produces 151MW from 102 turbines, each rated 1.5MW. Currently, Milkias is a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering with focus on renewable energy, specifically on how wind energy impacts the grid. Milkias holds a master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the Adama Science and Technology University, where he focused on electrical power systems. Milkias is driven to pursue a Ph.D., further enhancing his research skills and interests, to contribute to his university and country. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Milkias plans to improve energy access throughout the country with his acquired technical, as well as leadership and management, skills. Milkias wants to contribute his motto: energy to all.
