UC Davis Ranked Among Top Producers of Fulbright U.S. Scholars

The University of California, Davis, is included on the list of U.S. colleges and universities that produced the most 2019-20 Fulbright U.S. Scholars, announced today by The Chronicle of Higher Education.Fulbright Top Scholar Producer

UC Davis is tied for fifth among doctoral institutions on the list of the top producers of Fulbright U.S. Scholars, with seven scholars from UC Davis earning Fulbright awards for 2019-20. The awards are a part of the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship international educational exchange program.

  • Steven Fennimore, Cooperative Extension specialist, Department of Plant Sciences, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, hosted by National Institute of Agricultural Research (Uruguay)
  • Brianne Holden, study abroad program coordinator and advisor, Global Affairs, hosted by Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Taiwan)
  • Carson Jeffres, staff research associate, Center for Watershed Sciences, hosted by Federal University of Para (Brazil)
  • Naomi Martisius, research associate, Department of Anthropology, College of Letters and Science, hosted by New Bulgarian University (Bulgaria)
  • Scott Palmer, advisor, Undergraduate and Prestigious Scholarships, hosted by The German-American Fulbright Commission (Germany)
  • Richard Sayler, graduate student, Department of Chemistry, College of Letters and Science, hosted by National Polytechnic Institute (Mexico)

UC Davis recently ranked among the top producers of Fulbright U.S. Students and earned a grant to host Fulbright Afghanistan Leadership Seminars. UC Davis also hosts visiting mid-career professionals through the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, part of the Fulbright Program.

The Fulbright U.S. and Visiting Scholar Programs are supported at UC Davis through Global Affairs. Over the past decade, there have been more than 400 UC Davis-affiliated Fulbright Students and Scholars. The Fulbright Program provides opportunities for international exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills to students, scholars, and professionals undertaking graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools.
